Being a mobile hairdresser in London means I get to see the city in little pockets—each neighbourhood has its own energy, its own people, its own rhythm. Leyton is one of those places I always look forward to visiting. It’s laid-back but full of life, with a quiet charm that blends local pride and creative sparks.
So today, I’m giving you a peek into what a chilled day looks like for me when I’m working in and around Leyton—where I grab my morning coffee, where I go to recharge, and a few favourite spots I’ve discovered between client visits.
☕ Easy Mornings: Marmelo Kitchen or Deeney’s Café
My Leyton days often start with a coffee (or two). If I’m near Francis Road, Marmelo Kitchen is my first stop. It’s got a lovely calm vibe, homemade pastries, and the kind of oat flat white that makes you pause and say, “Oh wow, that’s good.”
On days when I fancy something with more flair, Deeney’s Café is the vibe. It’s known for its legendary haggis toasties, but I go for the veggie version and a strong coffee to fuel my morning appointments.
Both cafés are places where you’ll see regulars chatting, laptops open, dogs under tables—it’s that warm, familiar kind of energy Leyton does so well.
🌳 Midday Reset: Coronation Gardens or Leyton Jubilee Park
After my first round of clients, I usually carve out 30 minutes to reset. When the weather’s kind, Coronation Gardens is a lovely escape. The flowerbeds are beautifully maintained, and it’s just enough green space to stretch my legs and breathe.
On slightly longer breaks, I make my way to Leyton Jubilee Park—a bit more open, often dotted with families, football games, or folks having a stroll. I’ll sometimes bring a salad or sandwich from Unity Café and have a mini picnic while listening to a podcast or going over client notes.
🛍️ Little Gems: Francis Road
Francis Road in Leyton has become one of my favourite little stretches in East London. It’s pedestrianised, super charming, and full of independent shops. I’ll often pop into Phlox Books—an indie bookshop with great staff picks—or Gather, a refill shop where I stock up on eco-friendly home and beauty goods.
It’s also where I’ve had some of the loveliest conversations with locals. People in Leyton really care about supporting small businesses and keeping things community-focused.
🍕 Quick Eats: Yard Sale Pizza or Figo
When hunger hits hard, Yard Sale Pizza never lets me down. The “TSB” (Tenderstem broccoli, smoked cheese, and garlic ricotta) is my go-to after a busy afternoon of appointments.
For something a bit more elegant (but still totally relaxed), Figo Leyton serves up handmade pasta and classic Italian comfort food with a modern touch. It’s perfect for when I have a little more time before an evening client—or if I’m treating myself after a long day.
🍻 Unwinding After Work: The Heathcote and Star
No Leyton list is complete without a shoutout to The Heathcote and Star. It’s my top pick for an evening drink—laid-back crowd, rotating craft beers, and often some great pub grub if I’m still peckish.
If I finish my last appointment early, I’ll sit in the beer garden with a cold cider and just people-watch for a bit. Leyton really does have a slower pace that lets you appreciate the little things.
💇♀️ Local Vibes, Local Clients
One of the things I love most about working in Leyton is the mix of people I get to meet. From young professionals working remotely to families juggling busy routines, everyone here values time, ease, and a bit of personal touch. That’s exactly what mobile hairdressing is all about—bringing a tailored experience right to someone’s door, without the rush or the fuss.
Whether I’m doing a classic trim, a bold colour refresh, or wedding hair prep, Leyton clients always bring great energy and trust in my work. And I always leave feeling like I’ve spent the day in a village tucked inside the city.
Final Thoughts
Leyton isn’t flashy—and that’s what makes it wonderful. It’s real, grounded, and quietly cool. From slow mornings at Marmelo to pizza-fuelled afternoons and garden pub evenings, it’s a place I’m grateful to know through my work.
If you’re based in Leyton (or nearby!) and looking for a local mobile hairdresser who knows the area—and maybe also where to find the best coffee—give me a shout. Chances are, I’m just around the corner
